Taapsee Pannu reveals the harsh truth about the Telugu Film Industry apart from the wrong tax management certain section of the industry follows.
Taapsee Pannu has hit Bollywood with her amazing acting skills, repeatedly proving she is one of the best out of the lot. The actress has proved her acting chops over the years with films like Pink, Mulk, Manmarziyaan, Badla. When she began her career with the Telugu film industry, the actress had received a lot of flak and faced many rejections from the same. Pannu recently opened up on details, how producers manage the TDS they cut from actors and problems regarding pay parity.
In a recent report by HT, the actress revealed she has made many mistakes in the past by listening to everyone and making a decision without using her brain. She revealed how she switched from signing seven films to singing one at a time. The Mission Mangal star said, “I was called bad luck charm in the Telugu film industry. But I was sure even then that I wouldn’t compromise on my choice of work.”
As Taapsee has been very open about the prevalent pay parity between female and male actors, the actress added, “It’s not common knowledge, but some producers deduct the TDS (tax deducted at source) from an actor’s fee but do not submit it to the Income Tax department, which, I feel, is a much bigger crime than pay parity.” Mentioning that it happened with her many times, Taapsee explained, “But since money has never been the driving force for me, I never gave it a serious thought and continued with the shooting knowing that I might not get that money ever, (which I might be entitled to after filing my tax returns).”
Taapsee mentioned about things changing for her and getting better in her case but feels concerned for fellow newbie actors who have to go through this unfair practice. The star’s advice is that tough methods must be used to give an extra push during the last schedule or the dubbing of the film until the payment is cleared.
After her power-packed performance in thriller Game Over, Pannu will be featuring in upcoming 2019 films Tadka, Mission Mangal and Saand Ki Aankh.
